Transfer Admissions

A transfer student is defined as any student who has previously attended a regionally accredited community college, junior college, or university and received some type of college credit. UNT Dallas only evaluates credit from regionally accredited academic institutions.

How to Apply

  • Submit a transfer application for admission via Apply Texas.
  • Submit a non-refundable $40 application fee or fee waiver. Applications will be considered incomplete and no admission decision will be rendered if application fee or fee waiver documentation is not received.
  • Official transcripts from ALL previously attended institutions.
  • If 12 or fewer transferable hours have been completed, transferring students must meet freshman admissions requirements as well.

Students are strongly encouraged but not required to submit:

  • Personal statement
  • Letters of recommendation

Option 1: Register for and attend a UNT Dallas First Friday transfer information session.
Option 2: Register for and attend a UNT Dallas Preview Day such as True Blue (Fall) and Trailblazer 360 (Spring).

Assured Transfer Admissions Requirements

Transferable Credit Requirements (4.0 Scale)
0-12 Hours
  • Minimum 2.25 GPA
  • Eligible to return to previous institution attended
  • Must also meet First Time in College Admissions Requirements
13-44 Hours
  • Minimum 2.25 GPA
  • Eligible to return to previous institution attended
45+ Hours
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Eligible to return to previous institution attended


If delivered in person, please be sure that your transcript is in the original, sealed envelope when you submit it to our office. Transcripts can be hand-delivered to the Student Solutions Center desk in the Student Center building (#10 on campus map) or:

*Note: Transcripts from international colleges/universities must be evaluated through International Academic Credential Evaluators, Inc. (IACEI) prior to being submitted to UNT Dallas. UNT Dallas only accepts international transcripts evaluated through IACEI.

Do Not Meet Automatic Admissions Requirements?

Applicants who do not meet assured admission requirements are evaluated holistically by the UNT Dallas Admission Committee to determine academic preparedness to succeed.  Holistic review includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Extracurricular activities
  2. Leadership experiences
  3. Community service
  4. Special talents and awards
  5. Employment history
  6. Essay/personal statement
  7. Letters of recommendation
